Filibuster fight may threaten accord on avoiding fiscal cliff
Mon Nov 26, 2012
I haven't read through all of the comments, but one essential purpose of the filibuster that hasn't been discussed is to avoid having laws passed and repealed every 2 years.
Trophy backlash: Are we rewarding kids for just showing up?
Mon Jul 23, 2012
And this prepares your child for real life how? When you get cut loose in the real world, no prospective employer is going to hand you a job for being the 5th best applicant, no employer is going to promote you for being the 7th best in your department, no prospective spouse is going to marry you f …
Family robbed after teen posts photo of money on Facebook
Tue May 29, 2012
Ranking next to this is all of the people who post that they are on vacation. Why not just put up a yard sign that says: "House and contents free to good home; owners gone for a week."

Thu Mar 3, 2011
I am still trying to figure out how people can both want to improve education but cut pay and benefits to teachers. Like everything else in life, this is a "get what you pay for" scenario. If you want to attract the best to the profession, you need to pay for it.
Texan declared innocent after 30 years in prison
Tue Jan 4, 2011
As a lawyer, I can tell you what the profession has known for decades: eyewitness idenitification of a stranger is unreliable, and eyewitness identification across races (has nothing to do with prejudice, its been established in various studies related to the inability to differentiate other race …
TSA: Pilots to be exempt from some airport security checks
Fri Nov 19, 2010
The terrorists have won. Air travel now requires an extra hour built in for security and the extra costs of elaborate machines to scan everyone of us with marshalls on many planes and dozens if not hundreds of TSA agents at every airport all adding to air travel cost.
